floral feeling

I’m feeling so very floral lately, thanks to the arrival of spring. We’ve certainly had many April showers, and even a few May flowers! (photos below from the garden). Can you see the pink buds on the tree? Ahh! So exciting!

Anyway, this dress has a special place in my heart because I wore it for my rehearsal dinner- the night before my wedding. I love that it lives to see a new day- outside of our first home and in springtime. So many new beginnings. I’m feeling so very floral.

Dress: Anthropologie ($20 marked down from approx $250)

Blazer: Harlyn via If Chic

Shoes: Sam Edelman via Nordstrom Rack ($50 marked down from $90)

Belt: Ann Taylor Loft ($5 marked down from approx $20)

Fashion Huntress tips:

1) I’m tempted to write a tip on how my dog photobombed my above photo. Ha! But I guess there’s no tip there- aside from just bring your dog to your photo shoots. Anyway, this dress is fairly formal but I added a denim-ish blazer to keep it more casual. I also added an informal belt, and ta da! the dress is ready for daily wear.

2) I actually found this dress on the Anthro clearance rack (hence the price), but the sizing was significantly off. I took it to my talented wedding seamstress (The Alterationist, http://thealterationist.com) and she altered the dress right up! Even with the cost of alterations, you can often still save significantly on a clearance dress. So, if there’s a dress or piece I really love, I often still get it and either alter it myself or bring it to a tailor.

Anyone else have styling tips for more formal dresses for daytime wear? Thanks so much for stopping by, readers! I appreciate it so very much!
