charming chambray

This gorgeous backdrop is from our last trip to New Orleans a couple of months ago; New Orleans is full of wonderfully kind people, fabulous food, a vivid culture, and so much more. I feel grateful that my travels have led me there twice, and I can’t wait to go back. Also, shout-out to the hubs for sparing me the trouble of my tripod and remote his photos are always so much more fabulous than my own! Happy weekend, readers!

Top: thrift ($2)

Eyelet skirt: Banana Republic ($5 marked down from approx $110)

Shoes: Crocs ($40 marked down from $60) (when I travel, I never take them off)

easy breezy summer shadows

Contrary to probably many summer lovers, I love a cool summer day that is slightly overcast, allowing me to hang outdoors without breaking a sweat or running the risk of sun burn! A summery day where I can add a lightweight sweater? That makes me one happy camper. It’s my favorite kind of summer look: easy breezy with summer shadows.

Sweater: TJ Maxx ($16 marked down from approx $40)

Dress: Vera Wang for Kohl’s ($4 marked down from $58)

Jeans: Levi’s ($88)

Belt: Old Navy ($1 marked down from approx $5)

Necklace: J Crew Factory ($16 marked down from $40)

Sandals: Calvin Klein (so old, can’t even remember where I got them!)

Fashion Huntress tips:

1) I thought this dress was a little on the short side when I was sitting down, which lent itself perfectly to being worn with jeans or leggings. Also, I generally shy away from a drop waist style, since I don’t think it’s a flattering style on me. However, once belted and layered, the drop waist look ended up working out just fine. Never say never in fashion because you never know what will end up working out in the end!

2) I recently placed my first order with J Crew Factory, and was really pleased with what I got! The jewelry is a fraction of the price than it is in stores, and there is regularly a free shipping and/or additional markdown sale taking place. I simply waited for both a sale and free shipping offer to occur and was able to ensure that I got the best deal. If you’re interested in checking it out, you can use this link:
