Is anyone else watching Grace and Frankie? Shout-out to Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin for being the most fabulous ladies in television right now, if you ask me! I love love love Jane Fonda’s classic style (and attitude) in the show. In an ode to Ms. Fonda, I’m popping my collared shirt collar and sporting a scarf today…and a ‘don’t take no for an answer’ attitude!

I haven’t seen a ton of reviews on the Victoria Beckham line for Target, so I wanted to offer my two cents. First, excellent work Target in prepping. At least in the US, the website seemed to be in better working order and did not crash when I was attempting to order. And while somehow my 5 am wake-up to place my order still meant I didn’t get a dress I had my eye on, I thought the process was a lot better than previous years! Second, the quality is truly as good as you’re going to get at Target and still a lot better quality than other Target items. To be fair, I actually think you get what you pay for and a little more at Target, so that’s not a criticism on my end. I heart Target for life. Lastly, the pieces are truly unique, and pose some interesting styling challenges. I have a couple more pieces to style and post, but here’s my first glance!

little dress on the prairie

I think it is safe to say that I have been on a serious dress kick this summer.

This plaid dress is no exception to my summer favorites!  When I found this rainbow dress at Urban Outfitters, it immediately caused me to think of Little House on the Prairie.  I don’t know if it’s the plaid, the length of the dress, or the cut, but it seems like a prairie dress to me! Living in the Great Plains, I think it is the perfect homage to Midwest history!

The dress has great back details with a cut-out and cross straps.

To keep the dress work appropriate, I added a denim blazer, a red beaded necklace and gold wedges.

Fashion Huntress tips:

1) While the Bitten line by Sarah Jessica Parker no longer exists due to the closing of Steve and Barry’s, the tagline still remains in my heart! She spoke widely about the clothing line, touting the tagline that “fashion is not a luxury.”  I have always agreed with this sentiment and hope that my blog speaks to the fact that fashion can be affordable and accessible.  Lower price point clothing can translate to high quality. Many designers now have lines at chain stores, making high quality and fashion-forward clothing accessible and affordable.

Side note: The New York Times wrote an interesting piece about SJP wearing a Bitten dress that she designed to an awards show.  It was perhaps the cheapest dress ever worn to an awards show at a price of $8.98. You go, girl.

2) Some of the affordable designer lines available right now are:

Nanette Lepore at JC Penney: http://www.jcpenney.com/ (many pieces currently on sale)

Vera Wang at Kohl’s: http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/ourbrands/simplyveraverawang.jsp

Rachel Roy at Macy’s: http://www.macys.com/  (many pieces currently on sale, and coupons available on home page for additional markdowns)
