bold (in black and white)

I want to say, first and foremost, thanks for the awesomeness that ensued after my last post. Community is where it’s at and I certainly feel that way about the entire blogging community. Thanks for being you, readers!

Dress: Banana Republic via thrift ($10, retails for approx $110)

Necklace: gift! via Anthropologie

Shoes: Marni via consignment ($25, retail for approx $500)

Fashion Huntress tips:

1) I am on an all-thrift challenge lately; the summer “clothing budget” tends to be needed elsewhere (landscaping, vacation, etc etc). So, I decided to challenge myself to thrift for a few months. While I have gone into “full retail” stores, I have not bought anything there in quite some time! The all-thrift adventure is actually really fun- and I find myself setting challenges (i.e.find a black and white dress, etc). The thrill of the hunt is on!

2) I’ve had my eye on a black and white dress that I saw in a magazine (for $5,000)….not quite budget friendly. But, if you’ve ever seen the Devil Wears Prada, you will remember well the scene between Meryl and Anne when Meryl talks about how a specific color was translated from the runway into a “bargain bin sweater.” I took this monologue to heart. Couture is very often translated into bigger “box retail” stores and a black and white dress is bound to appear at a lower price point. Sure enough, I found a dress that met the match (for $4,990 cheaper). Ha. (shaking my head).

Anyone else thinking up creative ways to approach their clothing this summer? Thanks so much for stopping by, readers! I appreciate it so very much!

Thrift store idea – My Habitat for Humanity thrift store in TN has a all you can buy bag sale usually in the summer. If there is a Habitat thrift store near you see if they offer that.

  2. i couldn’t believe my eyes… ten bucks for that awesome dress and 25 for those Marni shoes?!? *screams without a sound* girl, you are the queen of thrift!!
