I don’t know about everyone else, bloggers and readers, but the idea of not being perfect and “on task” with everything has been on my mind lately. I’ve been slower to post to the blog- and thought to myself, ‘maybe it’s time to let go of the blog.’ It feels pretty hard to get to posts every week with numerous time constraints and schedule demands, but I love it so. Decisions, decisions.
I decided instead of just “stopping” (my mind calls that “quitting” (unfairly and incorrectly)), I think I’m just going to let myself post when I feel like it. So, I apologize in advance for the lack of steady flow- but this seems like a good step in the spirit of “letting go” (of ‘shoulds’ and ‘woulds’) and “letting be.” Refreshing.

It’s also that time again: Monthly Mani with the girls! This month was “patterns and prints.” I went for multicolored prints, as you can see in my photo 🙂 Check out the other links below to see the rest of the Monthly Mani crew!

I’m a blogger myself and haven’t written in over a year, even though I know I have stuff I want/need to post. I totally agree with your decision to go with the flow and just post whenever you want. There are no “Set” rules anyways. Finally decided to get back on here and post updates…
I know that feeling. My personal and professional life often affects my blogging schedule ad I feel like quitting but the love for my blog makes me come back to it again and again. I think it’s ok to take a short break and be slightly irregular once in a while but please don’t quit. I know you love blogging as much as I do and I personally will miss your lovely outfit ideas if you quit! 🙂

It sounds as though a lot of people feel the same way- and I find that so reassuring- thank you so much for your kind words :)!
Love the mani girl! I’ve been feeling the same way, I’ve read a few other posts similar to yours and I actually wrote a blog post myself and decided not to post it eh I still might. It gets overwhelming sometimes but def rewarding and fun. I’ve started posting just once a week and if I feel like or have the time for more then I do that otherwise the fun gets taken out of it and it feels like too much work. So glad you’re sticking around though! 🙂

You should post it! I would love to read it! I love the openness and also the kind responses I’ve received. Thanks so much for that 🙂
First off, I love your hairdo! I wish I could braid my own hair with ease.
Secondly, don’t quit your blog! I know what you mean about the pressure to stay on task and post regularly, but it’s pretty hard to do when it’s not your full time job. When you put deadlines on inspiration, then you run the risk of posting content that you’re less proud of, just because you needed to churn out a post. So let it be.

That is so true! It IS really hard when it’s not your full time job! Or even your part time- ha! But, thanks so much for those words- I think you are so right :)!
No!!!! Please don’t ever fully stop! I love this blog!!!! I have learned so much from it. No joke. Melissa, some things become bigger than us, this is one of them. It’s no longer about you, it’s about your followers now. We need you to keep it coming! Best fashion (and only fashion) blog I know of.
LOL Vince. This made my ENTIRE DAY! Thank you 🙂 #safetythird
First, LOVE your nails!! Is that some kind of crackle effect nail polish or something?! It’s great! Second, I know how you feel about blogging! If it wasn’t for #MonthlyMani and Workwear Wednesdays, I probably wouldn’t be posting much at all, BUT I do still enjoy my blog, so I’ve decided to just be lenient with myself and not try to stick to any sort of schedule. I figure I’ll either figure out what exactly I want to post and start posting regularly, or I’ll decide I’m done and be okay with that, too! 🙂
YES! It is crackle finish from OPI. It’s actually a few years old- so it doesn’t “crackle” as well, but I can’t bear to throw it out! And I totally agree with you- Monthly Manis really give me something to look forward to and a way to connect- so thanks for spearheading it and for your kind works! 🙂
I totally know the feeling! It can be hard to prioritize everything. But you’re doing a great job girl! 🙂
It really is! Feels like a lot to juggle most days~! But I find it totally comforting that it seems pretty much everyone feels that way! Thanks girl 🙂
I know exactly what you’re saying! Totally identify with this post. Blogging is difficult to stick to, even if you love it and have a passion for it. It’s difficult to consistently crank out new content, but you do an awesome job. And the nails are SO cute!!!
It’s true! It’s hard to come up with content regularly and then get to posting it! But, thanks so much- I love connecting with Monthly Manis- I look forward to it every month 🙂
I know exactly what you mean. I’m there with you. Love the soft flirty casual OOTD. Very sweet. ~cheers
Thanks 🙂 It seems pretty much everyone is feeling the same way- who knew?! Thanks so much for the kind words of encouragement 🙂
I think that’s the best way to blog – you obviously enjoy it, so should be doing it for yourself first and foremost… and when you can! If it helps, I’m not always that regular at reading/checking people’s posts so for me irregular posting is better 😉
XO to everyone for such kind words! Thanks, readers!
He now… Don’t you be quitting on me! First of all, your content is cool, unassuming and a bloody good distraction. Secondly, you are a darn good blogger! So chin up!
I only post when I want too. Doing it on a schedule is too time consuming and then it’s not fun anymore. Sometimes I post once in a month other times twice in a week. I never know when and that’s okay. Keep it up and make it fun for you not work for you.
Very true!! Thanks for the support! 🙂
i’ve secretly always wondered how you managed to do it, post twice a week (or sometimes even 3 times?) in between your work and life in general. now i’m actually glad to know you’re just like the rest of us! 😀 i’m happy that you are letting it go and letting it be. after all, blogging, first and foremost, should be for yourself. 😉 i will still be following your blog no matter how much or few you post stuffs here.
PS. LOVE the mint green necklace + pastel coloured tunic combo!
HA! Yes, I am just like you and the rest of bloggers! It’s hard to keep up-! But thanks for your awesome support~! 🙂
I guarantee you will miss it we also did the same, posting when ever you genuinely want to is the approach we also took and it’s working just fine, it’s more enjoyable and you don’t feel obligated or have to feel guilty if you don’t, because that is all we need in this fast pace world is another obligation.
It’s so hard to keep up – those of us that aren’t professional bloggers have LIVES outside of the blog. Like jobs, hobbies, other stuff that needs attention. I have this feeling ALL THE TIME. But then a friend will mention my blog and how they like reading it and so I keep going – even if it’s been 2 months inbetween posts. I also think I’d miss blogging. Even if no one reads my posts, I still enjoy posting.
Hang in there, and allow yourself a break once in a while. 😀 We’ll still be here when you do post!
