Since yesterday was Leap Day, I’ve been thinking about Leap Years today. Apparently the history of Leap Day goes back centuries (who knew?!), and historically has been about women taking “non-traditional roles,” often in terms of asking a man to marry her or out on a date. While this idea feels a little antiquated in terms of “non-traditional roles,” I do love the idea of female empowerment. So, I’ve decided that Leap Years are now about women doing whatever they aspire to do! …should I try and pass some sort of law or something…is there a decree for people to sign…? 🙂 Either way, Happy Leap Year, readers! Whatever that may mean to you.

Fashion Huntress tips:
1) This dress is very clearly spring and summer, but, as I tend to do, I added a white button down underneath it to wear it in winter. I felt as though there was a lot of “white” space where the button down met the v-neck of the dress, so I added a chunky necklace to fill that space a little more and ensure that the look still seemed like a cohesive winter look. I also wore open toe shoes with tights, and added to the “half spring/half winter” theme of the outfit.
2) You can see below how I last featured this same styling technique (button down and dress) with another dress, and how I last wore this necklace (in summer and fall). I love to rotate pieces, especially jewelry!
Anyone else layering for winter while waiting for spring? Happy Tuesday, readers! Thanks so much for stopping by- I appreciate it so much!

Love the layered look. Great way to transition spring and summer pieces into fall and winter. Also adds a lot of visual interest to an outfit. Love that blue and white dress..you have the best thrifting luck. Happy hunting, Michele
Yes, I’m still layering away, but ready to peel off at a moment’s notice! Love the look btw, oxxo
Love your Leap Year philosophy! How you transitioned this dress into winter is just perfect, totally stealing this idea!

love the layering, but especially the surprising neon-coloured strap of the dress + your matching neon ring! ❤
I think for me it means Ready to Leap into Spring! And your navy and white ensemble would suggest you are too 🙂
I love the bracelet! Yep, I’m definitely layering, although North Dakota has been unusually warm lately -in the 60’s right now! I’m sure it will drop down pretty soon though. 🙂
