gone green (floral)

IMG_4325

What a gorgeous weekend we had here in Chicago! I couldn’t be happier! I’m still patiently awaiting greenery, which is very slowly beginning to show itself here and there. I figured if I wore green and floral, perhaps I would bring my own flowers to the day. Cheers to, hopefully, a sun-filled Monday, readers.

Fashion Huntress tips:
1) At first I thought this outfit might have too many different textures, but by keeping the theme “green,” the look remained coherent. Despite the various prints and textures, it was actually very easy to put this look together by focusing on one color and then surrounding it with neutrals. If you have various textures in your look, keep your outfit streamlined by focusing on one color palette. Alternatively, you can incorporate more colors if your textures are all fairly consistent.
2) I noticed half-way through my day that I had a run in my tights. SIGH. Luckily, I always have clear nail polish in my desk for this very reason. However, I could have been more prepared, as I don’t keep a spare pair of neutral tights in my office. My snag was small this time, but certainly sometimes tights are beyond repair! Here’s a really good article on how to keep your tights in good shape (and what better people to offer tips than the Rockettes, right?).
Anyone else have snagged tights tips? I hope everyone had a great weekend! Thanks so very much for stopping by; I appreciate it!

  1. I love the bag; it makes me think of peacocks! I’m glad someone enjoyed the weather, I was way too tired from the go blog social conference to do anything when I got back.

  2. Clear nail polish to the rescue! I don’t know how many times it has saved me too 🙂
There is never such a thing as too many textures! I’m loving all the different shades of green 👌👌 And how cute is that bracelet and that bag😍 I need them in my life!lol!

  3. loving all the green!
My favorite snagged tights tip is hairspray. An old standby from my dancer days, it’s a great way to stop a run in its tracks. Less permanent that clear nail polish and at the end of the day you have to be prepared to peel your tights off your leg but for when you need to stop a run NOW it’s super useful.

  4. i’m actually literally squealing over your blazer and that green bracelet (FROGS???? OMG, i want one!! please please PLEASE remember to tell me whenever you’re tired of it!).

but wait, what is it about nail polish and tights with a run? i only heard once that you can “fix” it with nail polish, but HOW exactly? i haven’t tried it myself. perhaps you could do a small tutorial blog post about this? 🙂

  5. You look so adorable in this dress and blazer. LOVE the fishnets!!! I wore fishnets all the time when I was younger. I think they are so sexy, and they feel sexy too!!! You wear green, and I will find green, Melissa!!! LOL (((HUGS))) Amy

  6. Not too many textures at all. It’s very quirky vintage chic and you’re rocking it. A Chicago swell should come rushing up to you in the street and present you with your own personal little bouquet of greenery 🙂

  7. Okay I scrolled thro and I realized I had seen this post but dint tell you how cool I thought that blazer and that frog bracelet were. I louwvee it 😀
