entrenched in a trench

Greetings, readers! Another day of warmth and sunshine in Chicago, and I am loving it! I’m having one of those weeks where my thoughts are entrenched in their own space. So, I decided to just ride the wave and be entrenched…in a trench. (I clearly have an addiction to puns, by the way). With another amazing pun, I’m off to my thoughtful place…

“We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.” Buddha

Fashion Huntress tips:

1) Tights in warmer weather always throw me through a loop. I feel like “spring” tights “should” be lighter colored tights, though I’m not entirely sure if that is true. If I’m wearing a darker colored dress in spring, then I do like to opt for light tights, personally. However, I would love others’ ideas on this topic!

2) A trench, for me, is a wardrobe essential. As much as I love prints and bold colors, a neutral khaki trench is one of the most versatile coats around. You don’t need to spend a ton to find a nice one. This time of year, trenches are not likely to be on a sale, approaching spring. However, if you are looking for a trench, May and June are likely great times to find them on sale!

Anyone else have opinions or tips for “spring” tights? Thanks so much for stopping by, readers! I appreciate it so very much!

  1. That trench is beautiful and that dress underneath it is so simple and chic it is a beautiful pairing. I agree on the tights I normally wear more lighter colored tights in the spring and keep my black, browns and blues for fall/winter.

  2. ooh, i love your trench coat! and how you paired it with yellow/orange tights. ❤ you know what this reminds me of, right? Hepburn's Holly Golightly in Breakfast At Tiffany's, of course. 😉

  3. Your trench is gorgeous, and the colour combination of the dress/shoes and tights is awesome. I am not sure I have ever thought about tights colours and seasons, but I realise I must do the same – except that I sometimes use bright tights to lighten a winter outfit. I am seriously wondering if I can get a Banana Republic trench to fit me… Kx

  4. Beautiful trench and dress!! In love with the whole colorblocking of mustard with maroon!! Burberry has some of the most classic and beautiful pieces ever. Love the pleating on the dress, drapes beautifully on you!!

  5. The dress is totally stunning. I agree with you about the tights! I love that you’ve rocked the mustard ones. I know so many people don’t wear them because they think they make their legs look jaundiced but I love them. 😀 AND, nice trench.
