loving layers

Happy December, readers! If there’s one thing I love about winter, it’s the fact that I can start layering up even more than I do in fall. I’m all about the remix and rematch in winter and today’s look is no exception. As you can see in the photos below, these pieces have been well loved throughout seasons passed…

Patterned pants:

Toss on a sweater, and it’s a winter party, readers. Today, I’m totally loving winter layers.

Fashion Huntress tips:
1) I don’t know about anyone else but I find Black Friday slightly overwhelming some years. I know, are you shocked? Shouldn’t this be the #1 day for the Fashion Huntress? Perhaps, but the past few years, I’ve found that retail has changed so much, you can find the typical “Black Friday” sales many other times of the year. So, if you decided not to shop this year on Black Friday, you have plenty of opportunities to do so in stores and online this week and many weeks to come! Gap, Old Navy, and Banana Republic still have ongoing sales this week in stores and online.
2) Winter is one of the easiest seasons to re-style what you already have by adding layers. I found these pants a couple of years ago at Gap as “summer pants.” However, by adding a sweater, scarf and/or button down, these pants easily transition to a “winter white” pant. I like to invest in basic/neutral sweaters and then layer them over clothes I already have, like patterned button downs and patterned pants. Neutrals sweaters are especially easy to find at places like Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic, Target, Marshall’s and TJ Maxx. Many stores already have their “fall sweaters” on clearance, so you can snag them for a good price and wear them all winter.
Anyone find some good finds on Black Friday? Cyber Monday? I hope everyone had a nice weekend! Thank you for stopping by!

  1. I love layering as well and I am overwhelmed by Black Friday too! I really prefer cyber Monday because you obviously don’t have to put up with the crowds and you can still get good deals!

  2. Omg “winter party” indeed! I love the mixed prints and, of course, layering!! It was so hot this year that I am feeling totally off my layering game, but you have inspired me to start mixing it up again! Hurray for cooler weather and the layering opportunities it affords us! 😉

  3. I agree Dear…with so many online stores options, you can easily get black friday kinda deals other times too..and kudos to you, for using each outfit piece in many distinct styles and not giving the same look….i liked your outfit…

  4. That gap top is one less thing we have to add to our closet, but only because I already own it;). I love the layering possibilities too and I love your mix and matching posts even more!

    xx Cara

  5. Love the mix of prints you’ve done here! And the colours are fab!

I forewent all black friday/cyber monday sales this year as well (although the limited was very tempting – 50-60% off online, plus another 15% off if you spent over $100… But I held out!). 😀

Many retailers mark-up their product in order to then sell it at a discount!

      1. Yay! So glad you enjoyed it. It does give a LOT to think about. I am a little out of the loop these days no longer being in the clothing industry, but yes, usually retailers are still making a profit on the sale price.

  6. Hey this elbow length sleeve is so cool.! I love that length!! 😍 And I love your entire outfit as usual too!
Also, you were my inspiration for my latest post where I layered a chambray shirt inside a T-shirt. 😍 Thank you inspiration! 😊

    1. Totally agreed- when you sale shop all the time, it can actually be a disappointing day, right?! And ha! Thank you! The hair in that post was totally a stroke of luck after wearing it in a bun all day- but I’ll take it! 🙂
