rock out in socks (aka pastel pink)

Well, it’s high time I jumped on the pink bandwagon, huh? I mean, it is almost Valentine’s Day and I’ll use any excuse I can to wear pink (and a lot of it). Today’s challenge was winterizing a shirtdress with my new favorite/most difficult budget saver: closet shopping. I really am getting sick of my Uggs, but my feet are freezing most days…so I decided to wear booties and just rock out with bright socks. The result is as grown-up looking as you get can wearing pink socks with hearts on them. I decided to just roll with it. -30 in February? At least I’ve got rockin’ socks.

Dress: Gap ($6 marked down from $60)

Sweater: H&M (really old, but $20 marked down from maybe $40?)

Tights: Target ($8)

Socks: Target ($1)

Shoes: Sofft at Nordstrom Rack (approx $40 marked down from approx $120)

Fashion Huntress tips:

1) For one of the looks featured, I wore a sweater over the dress to showcase the dress as a skirt. I didn’t like that look all that much. I think the black leggings and black sweater look a little boxy…I’m thinking next time that combination might look better with different color leggings or tights. Still, it would be an option to wear the dress as a skirt! Sometimes you can modify a look with what you’re wearing and a familiar combination, other times, it might need a bit of re-working.

2) Sadly, I think the winter sales are slowing down, so check out what you can find before the sales end! I still saw a few things at Gap last week, though stores are slowing down on the sales. I’ve noticed that resale and consignment still have a lot of winter sales, so you can also consider those options for great winter sales.

Anyone else finding winter sales still going on?

I hope everyone had a great start to the week! Happy Monday!
