snow falling on flowers

I’m pretty much over winter these days. But…when I saw the snow falling, I basically had no choice but to roll out there and take some blog photos. I ended up loving these photos, so I think it was totally worthwhile. However, now that I’ve captured the photos, Spring is welcome to come immediately to Chicago.

Fashion Huntress tips:

1) Lately, I’ve been all about florals in winter. I think florals can bring a lot of color and joy to winter days. The top featured here is quite thin, so I wore it with another top underneath and a cardigan. I like to think through what I generally consider more of my “summer and spring” clothes and basically just layer them up for winter wear. With layers, you can get a lot more usage out of your clothes, so pull out some of your summer clothing bins and look through them!

2) This is one of the best times of year to invest in sweaters. I have seen a ton of sweaters lately that are marked down to $10-$25. Even I will look at a sweater this time of year and think, “well…how much am I really going to wear this in January and February?” But then, inevitably, at the beginning of next winter, I will be dismayed by my lack of sweaters. So, this year in the spirit of planning, I’m grabbing up sweaters for next fall and winter. I have found the best selections at Gap, Banana Republic, Limited, Express, and Ann Taylor.
Anyone else stocking up on winter clothes for next year? Where are you finding the best pieces?
Thanks for stopping by, all! Wishing you warmth and a good end to the week!

  1. Oh brrrrrr that looks cold. Hard to believe it will hit 100F in some cities in Australia today! Yes yes yes at florals in winter!

  2. I love these photos – they look a little bit dreamy and whole lot of fun. Plus the colours in your top/scarf/cardigan are beautiful. I live in lightweight wool and cashmere sweaters, wearing them approximately eight months of the year (yes, even in Australia – I refuse to be cold!). I always gravitate towards similar styles so for me, it’s almost always a good time to invest in more.

    1. 🙂 it did snow yesterday, but are you shocked that these photos are from a couple weeks ago…? you know how my back log gets! though, somehow, I only have two in my back log right now!! 2014 resolutions at work!

  3. Wow, it looks really wintery there!! Haven’t had any of that yet, but when we do, I think I’ll be wearing my warm and comfy, furry inside, Rieker boots, otherwise I won’t stand a chance to the cold.
Love your outfit though, makes me think of spring !!

    Xoxo,
    Zoia

  4. I couldn’t agree more these photos turned out so great! Plus nothing better than heels in snow;). I am sorry though spring can’t come yet, we are coming out there in March and I want to play in the snow!

    xx Cara

  5. I love your pop of Spring in an otherwise dreary winter! I have to admit I’m jealous of the snow though. Freezing temps with no pretty snow to look at just seems pointless. But I’m with you, hurry up, Spring!
