(sub)lime lace and light

With our days feeling shorter now that fall has settled in, I am drawn to basking in the sunlight during the day whenever possible. This beautiful scene is a corner I frequent pass without giving it a second glance, but today I couldn’t help but notice the lovely light shining inside. All the more reason to climb up into a windowsill to enjoy the sun and mimic the brightness in my sunny lace top.

Fashion Huntress tips:

1) I last wore this top with colored pants for a warm summer look. I toned down the brightly colored top by adding my gray skirt and leggings to embrace this top a la fall. Brights, even neons, are absolutely workable for fall and winter by adding in layers and cooler colored pieces. And, as always, wear what you love and toss the rules. If you love wearing all neon in fall and winter, I say embrace it and own it.

2) I generally do not wear necklaces that are the same color as my top because I think they are hard to see well, but I really liked this combination with this outfit. Visually, it was easy to separate the necklace from the top due to the lace of the top versus the beads of the necklace. I’m always finding myself challenging my own thoughts about getting dressed and accessorizing. A metaphor for life? Probably. Fashion has a way of finding the unexpected and surprising us.  Accessorizing lesson: it’s easy to get stuck in our ways, but it’s lovely to step out of them sometimes too.

Side note: Ann Taylor. I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again. I’m a huge fan of their final sale section. This $5 necklace is a real gem!

Thanks for stopping by, readers! I appreciate all of your comments and visits!

  1. Ohh this is lovely! I really like how you mixed in turquoise with the neon yellow! And that skirt super cute! I’ll have to check out Ann Taylor, are the online sales just as good as the in store sales?

    1. Thanks!! I always have more luck at the actual Loft stores than I do online, but they do have great online sales too. I tend to wait until their sale section is 40-50% off, which I think may be happening now!

  2. Great look! When you say you love Ann Taylor final sale, do you mean a part of their website, or do you mean at the actual store?

    1. Excellent point; I should have mentioned that! The final sale section is generally a rack or two in the actual store. I find it’s normally a bit hidden near the back of the store, sometimes even apart from the sale section. It is, however, marked with a red sign most of the time- it’s generally hanging on the front of the rack!

      1. Excellent, I’ll check it out next time I’m around an Ann Taylor. I used to go to one near my old job but that was in Highland Park so let’s just say there wasn’t much in the way of final sales there!

    1. This pair does not but I have a pair that does! I think they were by Hue? I got them at Filene’s when they were closing. I miss that store! You may be able to find them at Nordstrom Rack, regular Nordstrom, or Bloomingdale’s. I didn’t see any at Marshall’s recently. Let me know if you find a good pair! Xo
