I have not actively followed sample sales in the past. However, when I put on one of my favorite rings today, I decided it was probably time to look into them more regularly. I got this ring at a Judith Ripka sample sale about three or four years ago.
With my bling in tow, I decided to keep my outfit simple today. I have had each item for a number of years. Today was an “oldie but goodie” day.
Ring: Judith Ripka ($100 marked down from approx $400)
Top: Banana Republic ($20 marked down from approx $80)
Pants: Banana Republic (full price, $100, over five years ago)
Scarf: H&M ($5 marked down from approx $20)
Shoes: Madden Girl ($10 marked down from approx $50)
1) Everything I wore today was over 3-4 years old. Having a mix of trendy and classic clothes means that you may have some clothes that you wear for years, while others you may retire after a season. I like to keep a good balance of both in my closet. Having a balance of classic and trendy clothes means spending wisely, knowing that you may want to invest more in classic pieces. For trendier items, you may want to consider looking for steals. Although, of course, my favorite is a classic item for a steal! I like to dream big!
2) As I mentioned, I do not regularly follow sample sales, but I think it is time to start! If you know any tips, I would love to hear them! Either way, I will post what I learn as I go.
