cozy chic

It is a bit cool here for June, so I felt as though I was dressing for fall this morning. With a chill in the air, my mind was thinking of cozy things this morning.

Much like my sweatpants, I cannot wear my slippers all day at work. Therefore, I settled for my next favorite cozy thing while getting ready this morning: a cup of tea.

This, naturally, inspired my outfit today.

This teacup (or as many of my colleagues said: coffee cup!) printed shirt is perfect for work, but did need a little dressing up.  I added black pants, a bold printed scarf and heels. Voila! My cozy chic look was complete!

Shirt: Gap ($27 marked down from $55)

Pants: Banana Republic ($90. Sigh. Full price. But, if you’ve read about my pants postings before, sometimes you have to just get pants when they fit and you find them!)

Scarf: Urban Outfitters ($5 marked down from approx $60)

Shoes: Lula Townsend at DSW ($12 marked down from $79)

1) If you are not sure about wearing a bold printed top, consider pairing it with a cardigan or sweater to cover part of the pattern.  I opted to keep my printed shirt simple by pairing it with black and white pants and shoes.  I loved the teacup shirt immediately, and I think you have to wear what you love! If you like a bold print, go for it!

2) To add some color to my outfit, I added a brightly colored scarf.  Scarves are one item that I really try and get on super sale.  An extensive and colorful collection of scarves can easily change up pieces you would like to wear more frequently.  Now is a good time of year to get them if it is warming up where you live. Off season shopping is key for snagging steals!
