half-casual friday

With no causal Friday allowed at work, I wear dressy casual clothes all week.  However, I do wear slightly less dressy outfits on Fridays.

This week, I wore button down patterned jean shirt- perfectly casual but still appropriate for our dress code.  Somehow, it is still cold here. Therefore, I paired the shirt with a striped long sleeve t-shirt underneath, a full skirt, leggings, and knee-high boots. Yes, it is that cold here!

These knee-high boots got a LOT of wear this winter. Admittedly, I did not rotate my shoes very heavily this winter.  These boots go with just about every dress/skirt I own!

When prepping for outside, I added a wool coat:Image

And then an infinity scarf (also seen here):

The striped top under the denim top added some nice contrast to the outfit. I kept the sleeves rolled to show more of the stripes:

This outfit was so comfortable- perfect for a Friday!

Denim top: H&M ($20 marked down from approx $40)

Striped top: Ann Taylor ($9 marked down from approx $38)

Skirt: H&M ($20 marked down from approx $50)

Leggings: Old Navy ($10. Alas, not on sale, but still good price)

Boots: DSW ($15 marked down from $50)

Coat: H&M ($20 marked down from approx $60)

Scarf: Gap ($15 marked down from approx $25)

Fashion Huntress tips:

1) Every piece I wore in this outfit is a ‘heavy rotation’ piece, meaning I wear them very regularly.  I have had the leggings, skirt, and coat for over 3-5 years.  Many pieces you get on sale can have a very long shelf life! If you’ve seen my other posts, you know that I try and make my clothes wearable all year round.  When it gets warmer, I’ll pair my denim shirt with a tank top underneath and brightly colored full skirt. The boots will be shelved (one day soon!) until fall.

2) Even if you work somewhere without a casual Friday allowance, there are still plenty of ways to be comfortable in skirts and leggings…and still be dressy!
